The woman at the Council Allotment office says there are actually 32 people on the list ahead of me, and I'm not very likely to get a plot for well over a year.
I should have asked her for their names and addresses.
I'd start hanging around the plots and make friends there. The ones who did that at our plots did that and nagged the council about untidy plots (along with the adjacent plot holders) and they seemed to jump the queue. That said it is only about a year's wait on our plots. There are only 70+ plots and a waiting list of 26. I can't see that it is that fast a turnover myself, but somhow it is. Hope you get yours soon!
Prior to October 2006 I had an idyllic allotment in Tonbridge, Kent, about which this blog was born. Since giving it up on moving to Northampton I've been on the dreaded list, waiting for another; but now finally in April 2010 I'm back on the land, and "Dig for Victory" can ride again.
If you have been following my rather spasmodic output at "Quotidian" in the meanwhile, please do adjust your sets!

I have a voodoo doll that I purchased in New Orleans a couple of years ago. I will stick in the pin a few times for you. Hope it helps!
Demand your rights as a citizen- it only takes 6 of you to demand plots and the council have to provide one ......
Hmmm...hope some move away.
Since we'll have to wait for the allotment, can you tell us how the new job is going?
