Tricky Garlicky......

Making a start on items 6, 8 and 9 from my "life list" in the previous post, I stayed in last night and photographed garlic.

I'm trying to teach myself Adobe Photoshop CS2 by trial and error at the moment, as I can't afford to do a proper course on it just yet. So it was five minutes max to snap the cloves, but then about two hours of techno confusion trying to get it to look how I wanted on screen.

I'm putting this one down as a reasonable success, as I learnt quite a bit along the way....mostly about how not to do it next time.

I would add that I drank water, ate dried friut, and thought healthy wheat crackery type thoughts whilst doing it, but this risks going down the Bridget Jones route.....and that is most certainly NOT the purpose of this blog!

So did you grow it then?

No. Sorry to say it's a Waitrose.

I didn't plant any garlic last year as there was so much "rust" on the site it always failed miserably.

Photo is great! I, too am presently a non-allotment blogger, as me and my mate are still on the waiting list. I really enjoyed yr DfV blog, so just wanted to say good luck with your endeavors this year.

Ok, so this photo makes all of us want to grow it, so I think you can check 10 too!

That is indeed a very fine picture. I planted some Waitrose garlic a couple of years ago (even though you ain't s'posed to plant stuff from supermarkets) and it did spectacularly well. Best flavour of any I've ever grown. It's called 'Music' and looks very like the one you've got there.

But anyway, that wasn't what I was going to say. I was going to say that as an ex-graphic designer and long-time regular user of Adobe Photoshop, it does get easier ... I'm sure you'll get the hang of it in no time even without a course, and those two hours will become more like two minutes. In the mean time feel free to give me a shout if you get stuck with anything ... I'd be happy to try to help.
